Comparison of Adjectives مقارنة الصفات
☺ الصفة هى عبارة عن كلمة تصف الاسم فقط -Ali is a good doctor.
☺ وموضع الصفة إما قبل الاسم الموصوف أو لوجود (be) فتأتى بعده .
- This dog is dangerous.
☺ الصفة لا تجمع Noha and Sayed are tall children
☺ وتأتى الصفة عادة بعد فعل “ to be” أو بعد بعض الأفعال مثل
get – feel – seem - look – become … { -She is a nice girl. - She got tired. }
Short adjectives: -  الصفات قصيرة المقطع
Tall – short – long – big – small – fat – thin – old –young – heavy - light –
Long adjectives: - الصفات طويلة المقطع

☺ للصفة ثلاث درجات سواء كانت صفة طويلة أو قصيرة المقطع

☺ صفة المقارنة فى الصفات القصيرة يضاف لها (er) وتوضع بعدها كلمة (than) وهى التى تقارن بين شخصين أو شيئين

☺ صفة التفضيل فى الصفات القصيرة يضاف لها (est) وتوضع قلبها كلمة (the) وهى التى تفضل شخص عن مجموعة
Ex: - Nagwa is the cleverest girl in the class.

☺ صفة التساوي: وتستخدم (as + صفة + as ) عندما يتساوى شخصيين أو شيئين فى صفة واحدة.
* as الصفة as = are of the same + ( الاسم من الصفة ) = are equal in + ( الاسم من الصفة)
- Mona is as clever as Raghda. ( the same – equal )

☺ وفى النفي نستخدم not as ……. as” “ كما هي أو تحول إلى not so………as” “
Ex: - The tree is not as tall as the house = The tree is not so tall as the house.
☺ فى صفة المقارنة تستخدم “Less” سواء كانت صفة قصيرة أو طويلة المقطع لتبين أي من الاثنين أقل فى صفة ما.
- Ali is less good than Ahmed. ( صفة قصيرة )
- Algebra is less interesting than Arabic. (صفة طويلـــة)
☺ فى صفة التفضيل تستخدم “the least” سواء كانت صفة قصيرة أم طويلة المقطع لتبين شخص أو شئ هو الأقل فى صفة ما عن الآخرين:
- Salt is the least expensive material. (صفة طويلـــة)
- Ramy is the least short of all the Family. (صفة قصيرة)
☺ الصفات الشاذة:- وهى التى تتغير فى شكلها فى الثانية والثالثة

1- إذا كانت الصفة تنتهي بحرف (e) يضاف لها (r) فى الدرجة الثانية و (St) فى الدرجة الثالثة

2- الصفات المنتهية بحرف (y) تتحول إلى (ier) فى الدرجة الثانية و (iest) فى الدرجة الثالثة
happy happier than the happiest
3- الصفات المنتهية بحرف ساكن ويسبقه حرف متحرك يزدوج فى هذه الصفات
(hot – big – fat – thin – sad – wet)
hot hotter than the hottest
4- الصفات المنتهية بـ ow”“ وتتكون من مقطعين نضيف لها (er) و (est)
narrow narrower than the narrowest
5- نلاحظ بعد (صفة التفضيل ) غالباً ما نستعمل حرف الجرof)) للأشخاص وحرف الجر (in) للأماكن مثل
EX: Nadia is the best girl of her sisters.

6- يأتى بعد { farthest } حرف الجر {from}
EX: Pluto is the farthest planet from the sun.
7- ويأتي بعد { nearest } حرف الجر {to}
EX: Benha is the nearest city to Cairo.
8 - يمكن أن نستخدم + er of ) صفة (the + إذا كانت المقارنة بين اثنين:
- Hala is the taller of the two sisters.
10- الفرق بين (farther / further)
- Our house is farther than yours, from school. أبعد من (من ناحية المسافة فقط)
- He studied further than me. أكثر من (للحديث عن أى شيء)
11- وجود زمن المضارع التام مع جملة (ever – never):
- This is the tallest girl I’ve ever seen. نستخدم صفة درجة ثالثة)ever(مع
- I’ve never seen such a tall girl before. (never (صفة عادية مع
- I’ve never seen a girl taller than this one. (never (صفة درجة ثانية مع
12- تستخدم most)) وbest)) بدون(the) عندما تأتى فى هذه الصيغة:
• I like my sister most. * I prefer the first song best.
13- لاحظ أن الكلمات الآتية تستخدم معها “to” ولا تستخدم “than”
