Idioms

إخوتي الأعزاء أقدم لكم اليومموضوع جديد كثير الأهمية و فيه الكثير من الفائدة.
الموضوع هو عبارة عن Idioms مع معانيها و أمثلةعليها.
هذا الموضوع هام جدا لمحبيتعلم اللغة الانجليزية و خاصة الراغبين في التقدم لإمتحان التوفيل.
يا رب الموضوع يعجبكم و يكون فيإفادة لكم.
طبعا أنا لن أستطيعوضع كل idioms
و لكن الموضوعسيتجدد خلينا نقول كل أسبوع تقريبا.

first of all: What is an idiom

It is a speech form or an expression of a given language that is peculiar to itself grammatically or cannot be understood from the individual meanings of its elements

هي نوع من التعابير الخاصة بلغةمعينة و التي يصعب تفسيرها من خلال تفسير معنى كل كلمة في الجملة بشكل فردي.
أي انك لو حاولت أن تترجم كل كلمةموجودة في التعبير على حدى للوصول إلى معنى التعبير فلن تستطيع ذلك لأن المعنىسيكون بعيد تماما عما هو مقصود.
ولمزيد من التوضيح أنظر إلى الشرح.

1) be on one's feet

meaning = واقف = a- be standing

meaning =حظا سعيدا = have good luck

meaning = يكون جبان أو ضعيف =be weak or coward

meaning = لا يقع = not fall

meaning =يرتاح = rest

meaning = يعارض = protest

meaning = يبتعد عن الناس = stay away from other people

meaning = يقول شيء من غير المقبول قوله في موقف ما say something that is the wrong thing to say in a situation

meaning = يبالغ في الحديث = to make exaggerated or inaccurate statements about something

meaning = يتكتم على شيء ماkeep something quiet

meaning = يتعافى = recover

meaning = يعيد إلى الحياة = cause to live or recover

meaning =يضحي بحياته = scrifice one's life

meaning = ينقذ نفسه = to save oneself

meaning = =أن لا يكون صادقاتماما في ما يقول = to not be completely honest about something

meaning = يغضب فجأة = to suddenly become very angry
She saw Peter talking to an attractive blonde andthrew a wobbly

59) be/feel under the weather

meaning = يشعر بسعادة كبيرة = to feel ill
I'mfeeling a little under the weather- I think I may have caught a cold

60) be on cloud nine

meaning = يشعر بالمرض = to be very happy
For a few days after I'd heard I'd got the job, Iwas on cloud nine

61) climb/get on your high horse

meaning = يغضب على شيء و يبدأبإنتقاد الآخرين كأنه أفضل منهم = become angry about a subject and start criticizing people as if they are better than them

meaning = يعمل لكسب لقمة عيشه = to earn money to live on

meaning = يعاقب = to punish someone

64) bring somebody/something to their knees

meaning = يهزم أو يدمر شخص أوشيء = to destroy or defeat someone or something
Sanctions were imposed in an attempt tobring the country to its knees
The strikesbrought the economy to its knees

65) bring a lump to your throat
meaning = يقول أو يفعلشيئا يجعلك تشعر بمشاعر قوية تدفعك إلى البكاء =
if something someone says or doesbrings a lump to your throat, it makes you feel such strong emotions that you want to cry
