يامستر وضح عاوز تقول ابه؟ اعتقد انك عاوز تقول ان الكلمد دى تاخد فعل مفرد او جمع؟ لو كان ده سؤالك الاتنين صح
ممكن جمع كما فى هذا المثال , The Olympics have been prey to many factors that thwarted their
ideals of world cooperation and athletic excellence

ممكن ايضا تكون مقرد كما فى هذا المثال
The Olympic Games (often referred to simply as The Olympics or The Games[1]) is an international multi-sport event subdivided into summer and winter sporting events

اعتقد ان الحلين صح لان المعني المفرد يقصد بها الكلمة عامة والمعنى الجمع يقصد الالعاب بما تشملة من football, wrestling وهكذا والله اعلم

ممكن نستفاد اكتر من الرابط ده ( بس فى تصورى المثال الذى ذكره مستر حماده صحيح) : يعنى
olympic games is treated as a collective noun such as : family , government , army , jury, .... etc
In addition , since we refer to it as a competition , it takes a singular verb
