Stop + object + form + verb + ing مفـعول J Mr. brown low stopped the police from arresting Oliver. Have you heard of Charles dickens? After Shakespeare, he is probably the most famous writer in the English language. He is best known for his novels about life in nineteenth century Britain. Dickens was born in 1812 into a good family in the south of England. When he was still a young boy, his father went to prison because he had got into debt. Charles went to London to earn money for the family. At the age of twelve, he was working for ten hours a day in a London factory. He saw how hard life was for poor people, and money of the ideas for the stories of his novels and the characters in them came from this time. After he left the factory, dickens went to work as an office clerk, but he did enjoy this. In 1834, he started work as a newspaper journalist. While he was working for the newspaper, he was also writing magazine stories about life in London. Instead of using his real name, he called himself Boz for these stories. He want on to write Oliver twist in 1838, and Nicholas Nickleby in 1939. David Copperfield followed in 1850, a tale of two cities in 1859, and great expectations in 1861. In Oliver twist, Dickens shows the dark side of life in nineteenth century London. He describes the lives of child workers and life in the workhouse, where very poor people were sent to live and work. Charles Dickens Reading Oliver twist the boy who asked for more Oliver Twist grew up in a workhouse because his mother had died when he was born. Life for the young boy was hard. When he asked for more food because he was hungry, he was punished. So Oliver ran away to London. There he met a boy called Jack Dawkins who was in a gang of thieves. An old man, Fagin, had taught the gang how to be thieves, and Oliver want to live with them. One day, Oliver was with the gang when they tried to take something from a man's pocket. The man, Mr. Brownlow, caught them but was kind and stopped the police from arresting Oliver. Instead, he took him back to his house and looked after him. Oliver lived happily with Mr. Brownlow until one of the gang, Bill Sikes, kidnapped him and took him back to Fagin. Oliver had to go with the gang when they broke into a country house which belonged to Mrs. Maylie and her niece Rose. The thieves were discovered and Oliver was shot. When Oliver told Mrs. Maylie and rose that he did not want to be a thief, they believed him and invited him to live with them. One day, at their house, Oliver saw Fagin and another man called Mr. Monks looking at him through a window. Finally the police arrested all the gang. Oliver discovered that Monks was his half brother. He wanted Oliver discovered that monks was his half brother. He wanted Oliver to be in trouble because he would get all their father's money. In the end, Mr. Brownlow adopted Oliver and they want to live with Mrs. Maylie and Rose. Oliver found out that Rose was his mother's sister. 1. The past perfect simple tense From التكوين Had + pp. Use الاستخدام J يستخدم الماضي التام البسيط للتعبير عن حدث تم في الماضي قبل حدث - The past perfect simple is used to describe something that had already happened before something else in the past. ماضي آخر (أي إذا كان هناك حدثان في الماضي فإن الحدث الأول يوضع في زمن الماضي التام والثاني يوضع في زمن الماضي البسيط) ويستخدم مع الكلمات التالية : After, when, as soon as, before, till, until * When I had seen him, I knew what happened. * The children started watching TV as son as their father had left the room. * After I had finished my homework, I went to cinema with my friends. * I didn't make any notes until I had read the story. * He had got a visa before he traveled. 1- يأتي الماضي التام (الحدث الأول ) بعد as son as, when, after والفعل الآخر يكون ماضي بسيط . ويأتي الماضي البسيط بعد before و الفعل الآخر في الماضي. ماضي تام +after, when, as soon as+ ماضي بسيط ماضي بسيط + before+ ماضي تام مثال آخر للتوضيح: * First she did the shopping, then she returned home. يأتي الماضي البسيط بعد By the time والفعل الآخر في الماضي التام.* After she had done the shopping before she returned home. * She had done the shopping before she returned home. * She didn't return home until she had done the shopping. By the time the police arrived, the thief had escaped. ولاحظ مكان الحدث الأول (الماضي التام) مع when في الجمل الآتية:* When I came back home, I found that someone had stolen ويأتي بعد after أو before الفعل + ingإذا لم يأتي بعدها فاعل.my money. * When we arrived at the station, the train had left. So we missed it. * After doing the shopping, she returned home. يستخدم الماضي التام مع already إذا كان الكلام في الماضي.* She had done the shopping before returning home. * When I arrived at the station, the train had already left. The past simple & the past continuous The past simple tense يستخدم الماضي البسيط للتعبير عن حدث انتهى في الماضي أو عادة أو موقف في الماضي أو أحداث متتابعة في القصة.From التكوين :يتكون الماضي البسيط من التصريف الثاني للفعل. play played write Wrote Useالاستخدام : * I saw him yesterday. * When I was on holiday, I swam in the sea everyday. ويستخدم الماضي البسيط مع الكلمات آلاتية: Yesterday, last, ago, once, in the past. ملحوظة: تستخدم used to للتعبير عن عادة أو موقف في الماضي. When I was on holiday, I used to swim in the sea everyday. The past continuous tense From التكوين : was / were + verb + ing Use الاستخدام:تستخدم الماضي المستمر للتعبير عن الآتي : 1- to express an activity in progress during a time in the past. يعبر عن نشاط كان مستمرا أثناء وقت في الماضي.* Between seven and eight last night, I was doing my يعبر عن حدث كان مستمرا وقطعه حدث ماضي آخر.homework. 2- to express an action that was happening and was interrupted by another past action. * While I was having breakfast the light went out. و يستخدم الماضي المستمر مع الكلمات الآتية:* I was having break fast when the light went out. While / as / just as / when * While / as / just as I was putting on my clothes the يعبر عن حدثين مختلفين كانا يحدثان في نفس الوقت (حدثين مستمرين في نفس الوقت في الماضي)telephone rang. * He was playing football when I saw him. 3- to express two actions that were happening at the same time. * It was raining while we were walking in this street. ملحوظة : لا يستخدم الماضي المستمر مع أفعال الحواس والشعور والإدراك. أمثلة للإيضاح: * While / just as / when I was walking down the street I لاحظ في المثال السابق :saw an accident. يمكن استخدام just as , as , when بدلا من while ويأتي بعدهم ماضي مستمر والفعل الآخر ماضي بسيط. * We were watching the television when the went out. يأتي بعد when ماضي بسيط و الزمن الأخر ماضي مستمر – أو بعدها ماضي مستمر و الزمن الآخر بسيط حسب المعنى بغض النظر عن موقعها في الجملة* When the light went out, we were watching the television. * When we were watching the television the light went out. Past continuous past continuous Past continuous past simple Verb + ing past simple حدثان مستمران في الماضي حدث مستمر وقطعه حدث ماضي آخر إذا لم يوجد فاعل بعدها بينما , أثناء while while * While he was playing football, his brother was swimming in the sea. * I lost my money while I was running to catch the train. * I lost my money while running to catch the train. During + noun (or verb + ing) * I met some tourists during my visit to Luxor.
