ولماذا ؟

As "weather" is an uncountable noun, so the answer should be 'no article

The second sentence should be
I had never been diving / I had never gone diving
as we are talking here about what had happened before I went diving last week

I don't use books like Bit by Bit - I only use the Student's Book and the Workbook
