Warm –up : (5 minutes ) 1.Do you know anyone who is famous ? 2. Why is he famous ? 3.Where is he from ? Presentation : (15 minutes ) 1-As this is a new class , I introduce myself to the students. 2- Ask the students to introduce themselves ( Hello, I’m……… I like……….. My favourite hobby is………….. ) 3-New Vocabulary : archaeologist, laureate (n.),auther,nuclear,feminist,educationalist,Rosett a Stone ,mention (v.) 4 -Opposites : famous # infamous , succeed # fail 5-Derivatives : Verb Noun Adjective Succeed Success Successful Educate Education Educational Interest Interest Interested 6-Expressions and Idioms : That’s right ,do a quiz, famous for, on radio and television, bring ……….back, (be)made of, all over the world. 7-Definitions : Ask students to look up these words and write them down in their notebooks : headmistress,archaeologist,statue,jewellery, ancient , laureate. 8-Language Notes: biography-autobiography, writer-auther,historic- historical. 9-Have students listen to the typescript. Practice : (15 minutes ) -Have students listen to the tapescript . 1-Set up the activities: –Introduce the activities . –Pre-teach some essential vocabulary 2.Demonstrate the activities : -Show students by example what they have to do 3.Get students to do the activities:- Let students do the activities in groups and then in pairs –Check their answers. – Confirm correct answers , praise good work.
