Read the following passage, then answer the questions: ‑
Throughout history, science has increased our knowledge by making the invisible visible. Telescopes have revealed the beauty of the universe and microscopes have shown amazing details of the world around us. Now science is finding ways to enhance the vision of those who are blind or partially sighted.
Now new technologies are giving the blind better access to phones, computers, the internet and all the other forms of communication that are so important in modern life. Voice- activated telephones allow people without sight to make and answer phone calls easily. To answer the phone ,all you have to do is say "Hello". To make a phone call, you just tell the phone the name of the person you wish to call. It searches for the name in a prerecorded list and dials the number. If you want to call someone who is not on the list, you tell the phone to call the operator.
Blind people can now gain access to all the information held on the internet. Braille keyboards allow them to get onto the web and screen readers then turn the written words on the screen into spoken words, using a computer-generated voice. However, when they get to a picture, they say "image". New devices are now being developed that can describe all the visual images on a website, so that blind people will have access to the pictures as well as the text.
Give short answers to the following questions:
  • What do we call people whose vision is not good-, but who are not completely blind?

This is how paper came to Europe. At first, it was very expensive because it was made from cotton ' or linen. During the 19th century it was discovered that paper could be produced from crushed wood and this made it much less expensive.

When paper is recycled, it can be used over and again. In fact -most of our newspapers and magazines are made from paper which has been recycled many times.
