I think the sentence "street children is" is a correct sentence in English not are why? because when you translate you
translate meaning by meaning so the meaning is "the problem of street children is
2-uglier is correct and more ugly is correct too like easier and more easy

street children is/are abig problem. Both are correct because we can say" my family is / are in the house. words like" team , council ,family , " are treated sing. and pl. as they consist of sub members.

As a kind of confirmation
ugly is a two syllable word so it can be more ugly or uglier as it also ends with a consonant followed by y
And that's an exception for some words.
ps
y at the end of any word is a vowel that's why it is considered a two syllable word.

think of 'street children ' as a phenomenon ,so it can take a singular verb + ugly was a mistake that big people at that time left it without a hint .from1984 till 2011 nobody touched the mistake except the great man mr "essam" ..hope u r all right

الجملة الثانية يمكن اعتبار الحديث عن مشكلة اطفال الشوارع فالمشكلة مفرد:لذا نستخدم is
واذا كنا نقصد الاطفال فيجب استخدام الجمع are

More and most with short adjectives
