A- Answer the following questions:
1- Describe the deadly spider Ayman had seen ?
 It was black with two yellow lines, eight eyes, eight legs and it was as big as a small apple.
2- Why did Dr, Shereen Fakhry think the town had disappeared ?
 The climate became drier, so the town disappeared under the desert sand.
3- What did the spider do when it laid eggs ?
 It enclosed them in sacks of silk and she began its long wait.وضعتهم فى أكياس ثم بدأت الانتظار
4- What was the old Egyptian text that Dr Fakhry translated ?
 It was a translation of an Egyptian text about a town in ancient Egypt.

 In the empty house next to Ayman's house.

8- According to the story how did the town disappear ?
 The people burnt the town to kill the spiders.
9- Why did Ayman phone a friend of zoology ?
 To get information about the spiders.
Read the following quotations then answer the questions :-
1- " They hoped to kill all the spiders and then rebuild the town. "
a- How did the people try to kill all the spiders ?
 They burnt the town. احرقوا المدينة
b- Why did they decide to kill all the spiders ?
 Because they were deadly spiders. لأنها عناكب مميتة
c- To what extent were the people successful?
 They weren't successful because the spiders went underground.
2- " Right . I think you have to be flexible "
a- Who said this statement ? to whom?
 Jill to Ayman on the internet when they were having a chat.
b- What did the speaker mean by being flexible ?
 To accept any job.
c- Why should the addressed person be flexible ?
 Because any job is better than no job.
3- "The story of the spiders may be just a story "
a- Did Dr Fakhry think the story was just a story or did she think it was true ?
 Dr. Shereen was uncertain of the existence of the spider, she thought it was just a story. لم تكن متأكدة من قصة العناكب واعتقدت أنها مجرد قصة غير حقيقية.
b- Do you think Ayman was pleased or disappointed when Dr Fakhry told him this ?
 Ayman was disappointed محبط when he heard this.
c- If the story wasn't just a story . what might Ayman have thought ?
 Ayman might have thought that the spiders in the story were the same as the spider he saw. Or the spider he saw was ca dangerous spider.
C) complete the following sentences :-
1 When the spider laid 2000 eggs it enclosed them in 4 sacks of white silk.
2- The spider left Hassan's house as it was noisy and it wasn't safe or dark.
