The Problem of Over-population

(causes – bad effects – suggested solutions – role of the media)

Over-population is one of the most serious and complicated problems in Egypt. There are many causes for this issue. Firstly, most of the governmental offices and ministries are in Cairo which makes a lot of people come to Cairo to do business. Secondly, a lot of people, especially the uneducated, give birth to a dozen children without supporting them with their needs of food, education, etc. Thirdly, a lot of people immigrate to Cairo or Alexandria to have better jobs with higher salaries. Fourthly, the new cities that are built to attract the increasing numbers of people aren`t cheap enough for most people to make them leave Cairo or Alexandria.
This problem has many serious and bad effects. For example, the problem of heavy traffic is not only during the rush hour, but has become a daily problem. Moreover, the classes at school and university are so crowded that some students are unable to concentrate or benefit from them. There are suggested solutions that we can try: The new cities should provide cheap flats and have all the services just like the big cities. New and big schools should be built at the edge of the city to provide vast playgrounds to have a generation that knows the importance of learning and of sports. People should be advised to have birth control system because this will be in their children`s welfare. The media can also play an important role by advertising the importance of family planning.
