sorry i've got an important question in chapter 3 in spiders

When Leila reminded Amalia of the day when they were in Quenco , Why did leila say (Y-yes) as if she hesitated ?????????????? As my teacher told me i'd say she was surprised because Leila saw her >>>>>> please help (darory) Vblade45

sorry i totally got confused ( u know what general secondary can do to the person ) i meant ch.6 in the mask of gold ...... so should i say that she said so because she was surprised?????????
