C- Reading (17 marks)

5- Read the following passage then answer the questions; (5 marks)
As the plane circled over the airport, everyone sensed that something was wrong. The plane was moving unsteadily through the air. At that moment, the airhostess appeared. Speaking quickly, but almost in a whisper, she informedeveryone that the pilot had fainted and asked if any of the passengers knew anything about machines, or at least how to drive a car. After a moment’s hesitation, a man got up and followed the hostess into the
pilot’s cabin. Moving the pilot aside, the man took his seat and listened carefully to the urgent instructions that were being sent by radio from the airport below. The man had to circle the airport several times in order to become familiar with the controls. The terrible momentcame when he had toland. Following instructions, the man guided the plane towards the airfield. It shook violently as it touched the ground, but after a long run, it stopped safely. Outside, a crowd of people who had been watching anxiously, rushed forward to congratulate “the pilot” on a perfect landing.

A poor farmer died leaving only three things for his two sons – a mango tree, a blanket and a cow. The elder brother was very greedy and he made a rule to share these things between them. As perطبقا لـ the rule the upper part of the mango tree and the back part of the cow belonged to him. The blanket belonged to him in the night and to the younger brother during the day. The younger brother had to water the mango tree every day as the lower part belonged to him. The fruits were taken by the elder brother. As the front part of the cow belonged to the younger brother he used to feed the cow. The elder brother used the milk as the owner of the back part. The elder brother used to sleep comfortably in the night with the blanket. After a few days the younger brother understood the injustice and he decided to play a trick.

One day the elder brother was plucking يقطفa few mangoes. The younger brother took an axe and started cutting the tree. On enquiry he told his brother that the lower part belonged to him and he was free to do anything. When the elder brother started milking the cow, the younger brother hit the cow’s head with a stick. The cow kicked the elder brother. During the day the younger brother kept the blanket in water also.

Many people have made قدموا great contributions اسهامات عظيمة to their nationsبلادهم and the world. They have struggled لقد كافحوا for the good of من اجل مصلحة their countries. They have opened homes for disabledالمعاقين children. Besides, they have struggled against ضدpovertyالفقر and ignoranceالجهل .

* We should firmly face all the forms of corruptions in all sectors of the state.

"The sound mind is in the sound body". العقل السليم فى الجسم السليم This is a true saying, if someone practises sports he will be fit. That's why the ministry of education gives due attention الاهتمام الواجب to sports in our schools. Students who get prizes or medals in any sports championshipsالبطولات الرياضية are encouraged a lot. Schools also set up sports competitions and offer prizes for the winners.
The government encourages sports. It sets up youth centres and clubs everywhere to enable everyone old or young to practise sports. Sports festivals are a call for peace and love among nations نداء للمحبة والسلام بين الأمم . So every country gives due care for taking part in the international championships. البطولات الدولية

Protecting and increasing local productsحماية و زيادة المنتجات المحلية

One should be proud of his country and its local products. المنتجات المحلية .Our local products are usually cheaper than the imported ones and sometimes better. In addition, buying our local products creates job opportunities for our youth تخلق فرص عمل للشبابand brings hard currency تجلب العملة الصعبةwhich need to import our needs.
There is no doubt that our products have the Egyptian taste لها الطابع المصرى which appeals to us and cope with our nature and way of living يروق لنا ويتماشى مع طبيعتنا وطريقة معيشتنا . Not only this but also they best cope with our hot and humid weather, with our habits of eating and doing the daily work. Finally, buying our local products increases our national income and raise our standard of living.
