How to Wire HD Component Cables High-definition televisions can receive HD video content through either of two different cable connections. The first is HDMI, which is a single cable that provides both the audio and video signal. The second is component cables. These send HD video (audio is controlled by RCA audio cables), and although component does not support 24 fps (frames per second) playback, most video displayed on HD televisions is in 30 fps, (which is supported by component cables).
