Here is an extract from Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English 5th Edition








As you can see, when "open" is used with shops , restaurants...., etc. (things that customers usually go to), the verb is intransitive
I think the matter is clear now.

You quoted definition No. 6 under the entry OPEN in the dictionary

Please Go up one notch and read definition No. 5 which deals with shops, offices, restaurants, etc

What do you think? I think it`s more likely to be definiton No. 5
